Read, watch, and write across languages without leaving the page. One free Chrome extension. Your choice of AI.

## And everything else you would expect.

- **Hover to translate** — Hold Alt and point at any paragraph. Its translation appears right beneath it; click × to close it.
- **Write in your language** — Turn it on in Settings, then press Space three times in a text field: what you wrote is replaced with its translation.
- **Phrasebook and history** — Your last 50 translations, searchable. Star the keepers and export them as an Anki-friendly CSV.
- **Dictionary and speech** — Select a word (or click one in YouTube subtitles) to see what it means, then hear it pronounced.
- **Your choice of engine** — Chrome’s built-in AI, a local Ollama model, TransFlow Cloud or your own provider key — OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini and more — in the order you choose.
- **Free, with no tracking** — No account and no tracking. Every extension feature is free; only TransFlow Cloud has a daily quota.

## Up and translating in a minute.

1. **Install the extension** Use the Chrome Web Store button at the bottom of this page. No account needed.
2. **Pick your language** 60+ target languages and five interface languages. The language AI answers in can be set separately.
3. **Select, hover, or type** Select text and press Alt+T, or hold Alt and point at a paragraph. Turn on typing translation in Settings to also press Space three times in a text field.

## Start free. Upgrade your cloud, not your workflow.

| Pro | More cloud quota for people who read a lot. | $4.99 / $39.99 |

## Common questions

**Is TransFlow really free?**

Yes. Every feature in the extension, from page translation and hover to the dictionary, phrasebook, YouTube subtitles and text-to-speech, is free to use. Only TransFlow Cloud has a daily quota, because it costs the project money to run. When the quota runs out, you can keep translating with a local engine or your own provider key.

**Do I need an API key?**

No. Everyday text translation runs on the free cloud quota without any key. Chrome’s on-device translation needs compatible hardware and downloaded language packs. Your own provider key and a local Ollama are optional extras.

**Does it work offline?**

It can, with some preparation. For local-only translation, choose Private / offline mode, turn off “Use TransFlow Cloud”, and use Chrome’s built-in translator (which needs a supported language pack and hardware) or a local Ollama model. If TransFlow Cloud stays on, private mode tries local engines first but may still fall back to the cloud.

**How do I set up Ollama?**

Install the free Ollama app, paste one command so TransFlow is allowed to talk to it, then pick and download a model in Settings → Local Ollama. About 10 minutes, once, and no programming.

**How does image translation work?**

Reading text in an image needs a vision model. TransFlow tries a local Ollama vision model first if you installed one, then TransFlow Cloud (each image uses 5 units of your quota, on every plan), then your own vision-capable provider key. Animated GIFs are read frame by frame into a timestamped list.

**How do I install TransFlow?**

Use the Chrome Web Store button at the bottom of this page. It becomes active as soon as the listing is approved.

**What is the difference between Pro and Pro Max?**

Pro raises the TransFlow Cloud quota to 20,000 units a month and uses AI translation on every request. Pro Max raises it to 50,000 on the same models. PDF and manga translation and phrasebook sync are planned features, not shipping ones. If a feature matters to you, check that it is live before paying.
